New year’s Greeting

New year’s Greeting

We are pleased to present our special “Shinshun Manpuku” tenugui (Japanese traditional hand towel) to celebrate the New Year.

手拭い

This year, marks the Kinoto-mi year, which occurs only once every sixty years.

The Kinoto-mi year is said to be a time when “new things are born, grow, and develop.” It is also considered an auspicious year associated with prosperity and good fortune, especially in financial matters.

In line with this theme, this year’s tenugui features a uroko mon (fish scale pattern ), a design deeply rooted in Japanese tradition.

The uroko mon is particularly symbolic of protection, warding off misfortune and evil. We have imbued it with our wishes for a world free of calamities and for your continued safety and well-being.

Inspired by the strong vitality and adaptability of snakes, which shed their skin as they grow, we dyed the tenugui in a vibrant orange (daidai-iro), symbolizing long-lasting prosperity for Tsukiji and continued success for the businesses of all our esteemed patrons.

These tenugui have been prepared as a token of our New Year’s greetings and will be presented to customers visiting our store. We hope you will find them delightful and useful.

We sincerely pray for your continued happiness, good health, and success. It is our privilege to serve you, and we eagerly await the opportunity to assist you further.

Thank you for your continued patronage, and we look forward to serving you again this year.

Sincerely,
Azuma Minamoto Masahisa
